Six months ago, Roya Nikkhah arrived at Jamie Osborne Racing having never sat on a racehorse before with the objective of learning to race ride. As royal correspondent it has hardly been a quiet year for Roya but through Coronations, court cases and columns of copy, she has worked tirelessly; often with little sleep, always with a smile on her face to become a jockey.
The big day came on Friday when, riding Mrs Leslie Robinson's Cashew, Roya headed down to the start at Glorious Goodwood. The race didn't quite go to plan after a slightly slow start but Roya and Cashew finished with plenty of running for a very creditable 6th.
